Are you wondering: what are 12 Step programs? What is a 12 Step program success rate or what is a 12 Step process and where can I find a 12 Step meeting or 12 Step groups? Call us! We have the answers to all your questions! 385-345-4115 We will help guide you all 12 Steps to celebrate recovery; your 12 Steps to freedom from addiction! We will be honored to assist you in your Christian step by step recovery. The best place to start explaining the 12 Steps is at the beginning with step 1 of the 12 Steps. This is the first step of your road to beating your addiction and leading a sober life. 12 Steps step 1 simply requires you to admit there is a problem and that you are not able to control that problem. |
When you enter a 12 Step Program, the first thing you and your sponsor will do is develop a 12 Step plan. This will be covered in the 12 Step worksheets used to help you make sense of your addiction. Although most all 12 Step programs are non-denominational and non-religious, there are several 12 Step prayers that may be used to open and close meetings. Remember, 12 Steps require no religion only the acknowledgement that there may be something bigger than yourself that can help at our Christian recovery center.
There are a lot of myths and misnomers concerning 12 Step programs. Some programs have taken the 12 Steps and reworded them or attributed certain practices to them that are not found in the original 12 Step book. There are several 12 Step recovery quotes that are not found in any of the original documents either. One such myth is the rule on 12 Step dating. While there is no rule preventing dating while working a 12 Step program, it is unwise to begin a relationship with not only someone in early recovery, but someone who is also a part of a meeting you regularly attend.
We want your experience of the 12 Steps to be pure and unfiltered. You and your sponsor focus on you getting well, being healthy and being in charge of you. For years you have let your addiction run your life and call all the shots. Addiction has left your world with scorched earth and ruined relationships of all kinds. Working a 12 Step program is your time to really look at yourself and your actions, to apologize to people you have offended, including yourself and to rework your life and your thought processes. Towards the last few steps, you begin to reach out to others and then you immediately step out of your own head, out of your own pain and in focusing on someone else and their needs you become the selfless helper, instead of the selfish addict.
