Narcotic Anonymous 12 Steps at our Christian Rehab Center
|
Do you believe the 12 Steps of NA can help you? Our Christian Alcohol Rehab and Christian Detox Center provides you with access to the Narcotics Anonymous and Nar-Anon 12 Steps.
Narcotics Anonymous 12 Steps is a well-established, proven program utilizing the 12 Step approach for those struggling with a narcotic addiction. In NA, narcotics are defined as those drugs causing a physical addiction, including opiate pain pills, heroin, methamphetamine etc. The NA 12 Steps are very similar to the AA 12 Steps, other than simply replacing the word alcohol with addiction. NA 12 Steps is a spiritual program, referencing God or a Higher Power of your understanding. Like AA, NA also has a family support group called Nar-Anon, and they have Nar-Anon 12 Steps as well. This group deals with the co-dependency and enmeshment that often happens when there is an addict in the family. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of how much of a role they play in a family members addictions. It is also not uncommon to find out that within the addict’s family, there are others with addictions such as food addictions, sexual or pornography addictions, or alcoholism in women which can be well hidden. |
Often when one family member admits to an addiction, other family members look at themselves and realize, for example, that the symptoms of alcohol use are more than just symptoms and that they too may have an addiction.
Any 12 Step group is a fellowship or a family of sorts that while being anonymous to protect privacy, also encourage and practice wrap-around support for the addict who comes into the fold. 12 Steps have a proven track record and when adhered to completely, a good success rate, especially when combined with other modalities. That is why our Christian Drug Recovery Center combines not only the psychological components in treatment but also the spiritual, which uses the concept of a Higher Power (or God) to remind ourselves and others that we are all connected and that one person’s addiction problem, becomes all of our problem.
Human beings have a need to connect to other human beings. This is a need almost rooted in our very DNA. When we are in our addiction, we isolate from others out of shame. The need to connect is still there, so we surround ourselves with other addicts whom we don’t feel judged or shamed around. NA replaces those connections with healthy connections to not only offer support and caring but to connect on a fundamental human level.
Addressing spirituality, no matter what particular religion you are is also a fundamental, core foundation recovery. Addicts have spent often years making lie about “them”. Spirituality takes them out of the “me” mode and allows them to serve others and get out of their own mess for a while. The 12 Step in a 12 Step program is all about serving others. By reaching out and relating to others, getting and offering support, addicts can change the “selfish” to “selfless”.
